Nine

Last night I saw "Nine," the new film by Rob Marshall, who also directed "Chicago." I went in, boyfriend in tow, without reading any reviews or watching any trailers, basically because I love everything Daniel Day Lewis puts his name on. In short, don't see it in theaters. The musical numbers are bland (save for both songs by Marion Cotillard, who is INCREDIBLE), the story is weak and riddled with holes, and the overall film seems like it would be a great play (which it is, originally) instead of a great movie. However, I did love the costumes, Marion Cotillard and Daniel Day Lewis's respective performances, and the scenery (can you really go wrong with Italy? Ever?). So...basically, don't pay $9.50 for this sub-par musical. Watch the "There Will Be Blood" and "La Vie En Rose" instead.
