It's 1:26pm on Monday the 8th right now, so HELLO FROM THE FUTURE.
I’ve tried to update this thing more often but unfortunately the email system is all messed up and some things are just not sending. Life is hard, or so I’ve heard (can’t really say cause I’m on a CRUISE SHIP).
We keep losing hours. As in, it’ll be 12 o’clock midnight for two hours relatively frequently. On February 3rd, we lost an entire day. This concept is mind-blowing to me. Originally we were supposed to lose February 2nd, which would be GROUNDHOG DAY, which is ironic on so many levels to me, as well as the day LOST premieres, which may be even more ironic. Plus we watched “Jaws” in the union on the 2nd, and at the end of the film Richard Dreyfuss asks, “is it Tuesday or Wednesday” which was too amazing of a coincidence to be real. I hope you know my references, dear readers.
I’m listening to Animal Collective’s new EP, “Fall Be Kind” and missing my friends from home. I’d really just like to curl up on Agnes/Christi/Taylor’s futon and smell incense and listen to this record right now. However, I am here, which is equally as lovely. I’m also drinking some kava, which is nice. I’m bringing some home for those at home to try, in case anyone is curious.
I’ve fully planned my trips to Japan, China, and India, as well as booked my shark cage dive for April Fool’s Day. The best pranks of all time will be executed that day, let me tell you. For Japan, I’ll be spending the first day in Yokohama, the second in Kamakura, the third in Tokyo, the fourth in Kyoto, and the fifth in Kobe. For China, it’ll be 5 days in Shanghai and 3 in Hong Kong, and in India I’ll be in Chennai for one or two days (depending on whether or not I can cancel a trip), Mysore for one or two days, Bangalore for one day, and Cochin for two days. I’m so excited to travel with Aleeza and Colette – we’re all on top of our shit and get along very well – and my new buddy Noel will be accompanying us in China.
Also, I’m trying to buy a dress in every country. I’m going to have them specifically made for me in Vietnam and Ghana, so I’ve been looking at shapes and am thinking of pictures to print out and show the dressmakers. I’m really excited about this, so much so that I feel like a bit of an idiot. Nicola Fumo, send me some dresses.
I have a lot of homework, which is kind of surprising (mainly frustrating) and the school asked me if the improv club would like to perform in front of everyone to teach people how to be normal in other countries. As in, the suggestions are "speak quietly," "have patience," etc. Basic. I didn’t really want to do it but everyone else was down...so I will. I just don't want to sound like one of those "hey kids you know what's hip? not drinking!" people and alienating myself. We’re going on tonight and I think it’ll be okay. I had some friends watch and they said it was good, so…..
I love the amount of emails I’ve gotten in the past few days, mainly because out of the five or six friends who have emailed, four different people have told me that the LOST premiere was great. I’m so bummed I missed it, but hey, I’m on my way to Japan. Anyway, please keep emailing me updates – most specifically about other friends and stuff. Since I don’t have facebook I literally have no idea what’s going on. It’s bizarre, to say the least.
A few nights ago SAS threw it’s first dance. The theme was mismatched, so I wore this flowery dress with a mismatched scarf. Needless to say, I was probably the least dressed up person there. The ratio of guys to girls was very obvious the entire time, so I had a lot of fun dancing with some of my closer girl friends here. Other than that, we watched “Jaws” and some kids and I have taken to having platonic cuddle parties while watching “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia” or “Southpark,” so that’s been really nice. I think I’ll implement this when I go home.
When I arrive in Japan I will download the newest LOST episodes from iTunes (YES YES YES LOOPHOLES) and also update with some photos. I only have 5 minutes of internet time left so I think it would be silly to even try. Ugh, I do NOT want to buy more.
Last but not least, Bill Murray’s nephew goes to Loyola, so I’m pretty sure I’ll have to meet him and meet Bill and marry him sometime next year.
This is probably my shortest update to date, but I don’t have much. Still learning, still happy, still excited. Some things have been difficult, but I love this.
